Kameron Perez-Verdia has served on the Anchorage Assembly in District 3 since 2019. Although he hasn't been present for any meetings in four years, the Muni website still shows him as active. We spoke with him via phone this week as he was at his primary home in Florida.
"Ummm...which Assembly?" he said. "The Assembly Of Distinguished Persons, one of my 13 non-profits or the St. Petersburg Assembly?" We clarified our questions were concerning the Anchorage Assembly and he perked right up. "Oh! Right right...that one. Yes (cough), outstanding one that one. I forgot about that one...with the um, time difference and all. But yes, my old community of West Anchorage will always hold a very special place in my heart, and I love nothing more than fighting for my former neighbors with every second of the day that I have left after my shuffleboard league is over."
When asked if he planned to run for reelection in April, he had this to say: "Absofreakinglutely! I already have my new website built and ready to launch, I'll be able to reuse signs from my last campaign here in Florida and have raised so much money that I'll be able to hire local campaign staff in Anchorage and won't even need to visit!"
At this point, the interview was cut short as he said he was about to "pop in to Chilis" but promised us a follow up interview before the April election.
